SCS was founded in 2016 by Linda Gartner after she retired from 34 years of choral directing at Sycamore Junior High School. Under her direction, SCS prepared and performed two annual concerts, sang at retirement communities, volunteered at fundraising events, and created a scholarship program for students interested in pursuing choral conducting. Members of SCS also traveled to Germany and Austria in the spring of 2018, NYC/Carnegie Hall in February 2020, and most recently to Ireland and Scotland in June 2022, performing three formal concerts and multiple impromptu mini-concerts. After the choir’s concerts in May 2023, Linda retired as director of SCS.
For the 2023-24 season, Sycamore Community Singers was fortunate to have Beth Hofferber as our Artistic Director.
Sycamore Community Singers is a tax-exempt, non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
