Updates Oct 13, 2025

Lots of new information in this week’s message!  Please take a look through…

 Director’s Notes

Hi Everyone!

Another great week of rehearsal last Thursday! Please make sure that if you are absent, you are still looking over your music as we have a lot of challenging pieces and are making incredible strides in rehearsal every week!

This week we will be visiting: Precious Lord, I’ve Got My Love, Adoramus Te, Battle Hymn, Glow, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

We are also going to be having solo auditions coming up in the next few weeks. Since there are fewer opportunities for solos this fall, please email directly if you would like to audition. Jacob and I will then set up a time to meet with you for the auditions.
Solo opportunities are:
Gaudete – opening solo and duet
Gaudete – small group
The Road Home – Soprano Descant
Snow Miser Heat Miser – Solos

The learning tracks for Hanerot Halalu are now available.

 Memorization
As a reminder, we are planning to memorize the following pieces for our winter concert:
Gaudete
Precious Lord
The Road Home
Theme from Elf
Snow Miser/Heat Miser
Nutcracker Jingles

We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Larry Stockdale is retiring from SPC at the end of November. He has been so helpful to SCS during the past 10 years, opening up the church, cleaning, collecting our leftover water bottles, and closing up as well as working the nights of our concerts. We are planning a thank you reception for Larry Stockdale on November 13 from 6pm-7pm. Susan Crabill will be sending out a sign up form for snacks to be provided. Don Stuart will be collecting donations for a cash gift for Larry. You can also Venmo donations for Larry to @Lorie_Stuart.

 Dan Henke – This Saturday!

We’re so excited that former SCS member Dan Henke is being honored at Sycamore High School!  For those who may not know, Dan Henke was a longtime Sycamore educator and administrator, and he hired SCS’s founder Linda Gartner for her position as a Sycamore Music teacher.  Dan sang with the choir for about 7 years.  We hope to see many choir members at the opening ceremonies of the Dan Henke Field at Sycamore High School on Saturday, Oct 18 at 1:00 pm.  See attached flyer for more details.
