Women’s Attire – 08-23-2024
Hello ladies! My apologies for not waiting for the weekly newsletter email, but this will be lengthy enough that it deserves its own transmission.
As stated last week, we will be wearing our long black dresses and sparkly jackets for the November concerts. It’s been a year since they were worn, so we are checking in with everyone!
First, if you have the dress and jacket, TRY THEM ON, and make sure you are still comfortable with how they fit! If you think something needs to change, reply to this message (syccomsingers@gmail.com) with your information.
Second, we have had many SCS women retire from the choir that own the dress and jacket. Some of you have collected dresses from these former members. If you have any extra dresses and/or jackets, please let me know what you have and what sizes they are (and who they are from if you know)! I will plan to send out a message to a bunch of former members to ask if they’d like to recycle their outfits.
Third, I think we have about 14 women new to the chorus in 2024, and they need a dress/jacket combo! Pam Barnett and I will plan to be at the church early this coming Thursday, Aug 29 (for our sectional). We can bring some dresses that are available, and we will also try to have some additional sizes for you to try on to confirm what you need. Once we know what needs to be ordered, Pam will take care of getting new pieces. Shipping is very expensive from these companies, so as much as possible, we need to order everything together in one order per company.
DO NOT ORDER ON YOUR OWN – but here are the links for the dress and jacket that we use. The dresses especially are designed for high schoolers. You may need to order a larger size than you typically wear. Unfortunately, the dress fabric does not stretch, and you want to make sure you have room to breathe! The bust dimension is most important (in my opinion).
NEW WOMEN – please reply to this email with the approximate size that you think you will need, and we will work to get that size to rehearsal for you to try on. Sometimes you can use the same dress and jacket size, and sometimes the two sizes will be slightly different.
Thanks! Mary Wynn
